Detoxaholic is back with the weekly YYT (Yummy Yeah Tuesday) celebration! This week nominees are two new school artists that are creating their unique brand of soul music and made major waves at the 2015 Afropunk Brooklyn Festival last month.
First, we’re showing love to young cutie-pie, Atlanta native artist Raury. He came onto the scene in 2014 with his first EP entitled “Indigo Child” and has built much momentum with his eclectic blend of soul, folk, and hip hop. He is quoted stating his major musical inspirations are artists such as Andre 3000, Kid Cudi, Queen, Marvin Gaye, and many more. He was a featured artist on the XXL Magazine 2015 Freshman Class, and his artistry has been spoken of highly by the likes of Kanye West, Janelle Monae, and many other prominent artists. He is set to release his new album entitled “All We Need” on October 16th, and is available for pre-order on Itunes. To stay current on his movement and tour schedule follow Raury via his website, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Next, we’re shining our Detox spotlight on beautiful songstress Kelela. She’s an Ethiopian American singer that hails from the Washington D.C. area, but started creating her buzz in Los Angeles. Her 2013 debut EP “Cut 4 Me” was highly acclaimed by artists such as Solange Knowles and Bjork. She’s been on her 2015 summer music festival grind hypnotizing audiences with her unique trippy and passionate soulful tunes. Her new EP entitled “Hallucinogen” is set to be released on October 9th, and is available for pre-order on Itunes.
