Detoxaholic was soaking in the beautiful vibes of Afropunk Brooklyn 2015. This is my third year attending the evolving music festival and of course I had a blast! Huge banners proudly flew high that promoted this year’s theme of love, unity, and pride for all people despite race, religion, gender, and sexuality. It was beautiful and inspiring to see people of all walks of life peacefully gather together in this celebration of music and art. And the wonderful fashion expressions were the cherry on top!
Festival goers enjoyed various attractions: tribal face painting, food, clothing, and beauty vendors, and much more. The wonderful music acts of the festival was a kaleidoscope of musical genres. There was a beautiful mash-up of punk rock, rock and roll, soul, rhythm and blues, hip hop, techno, EDM, and more. Below check out the video of some of the awesome performance highlights from major artists such as Raury, Young Paris, Kelis, Ms. Lauryn Hill, and Lenny Kravitz.
If you want to experience the peaceful vibes of the Afropunk Festival, the waves will touch down in Atlanta, GA on October 3rd and 4th. Visit the festival’s website for full schedule and artist lineup.
